The Mid-Atlantic Affiliate Challenge will be staffed with a highly qualified medical staff to tend to any injury and help athletes recover between workouts. There will be a designated area for all athletes to seek the attention they need throughout the weekend. Check out the information below of the staff and keep getting excited for this weekend! 

Medical Team Leader: Kim Murray, RN, M.S. Kim has worked at least one competition each month in the MD/DC/VA area since she started CrossFit 4 years ago, and has been Medical Team Lead for many. Her experience includes:
Medical Staff for 5 Regionals, Medical Team Lead for the Atlantic Regionals, Clinic Lead at the East Regional. She has been on Medical staff at the CrossFit Games, Wodapalooza, Working Wounded Games, and SuperFit Games. Murray is an RN and teaches Nursing, CPR, and BLS (basic life support). She is excited for another MAAC weekend and looks forward to meeting the athletes. 

Daniel Johns, D.C., F.I.A.M.A, Cert. D.N. Dr. Johns recently opened Elevate Life in Annapolis after moving from Miami where he owned two sports medicine clinics treating NFL players, Olympians, Grid League athletes, and numerous other professional athletes. He loves working competitions and has experience at the Crush Games, numerous other CrossFit competitions, and AVP tournaments.

Dr. Mary Miller, PT, DPT of True Sports Physical Therapy has over a decade experience working in the field of orthopedics, with special focus on running related injuries.

Dr Anthony Colon, MD is a Surgeon completing his Residency at Howard University Hospital, he volunteered at CrossFit East Medical Regional in 2016.

Dr. Rob Connolly has been a licensed practicing physical therapist for the last 11 years. He is the founder of Body Hacks by Dr. Rob and a provider on the Clinical Athlete network. He has a background that includes collegiate football, wrestling, powerlifting, endurance training, and CrossFit. Dr. Rob specializes in manual therapy and neuromuscular techniques. He addresses body alignment / adjustment needs, and incorporates soft tissue positional release and muscle energy techniques for areas of pain and restriction. Rob works primarily out of Old Line CrossFit for the last 2 years and has worked with many athletes to correct musculoskeletal injuries/issues to improve functional mobility and optimize performance

Dr. Chelsea Giesige, PT, DPT, ATC of True Sports Physical Therapy is an expert athletic trainer at the collegiate level and physical therapist with extensive experience working with all athletes.

Meagan Wademan, SPT of True Sports Physical Therapy is an avid crossfitter who has just completed her doctorate from University of Maryland.

Dr. Yoni Rosenblatt, PT, DPT, OCS, CSCS, USAW owner and founder of True Sports Physical Therapy, treats athletes worldwide having just returned from the World Baseball Classic where he was head PT for Team Israel.

Josh Plummer, PT, DPT, CSCS, FMS, USAW representative for True Sports Physical Therapy at Campanaro Strength and Conditioning works with elite athletes of all ages working on both injury prevention and rehabilitation.

Dr. Bobby Esbrandt, PT, DPT, CSCS, PES, USAW of True Sports Physical Therapy as a former collegiate athlete himself, has vast experience treating athletes at both the collegiate and professional level.

Elisa Wood has 1.5 years of CrossFit experience, is a certified Fascial Stretch Therapist, a TRX Qualified Trainer and has a B.S. in Nutritional Sciences.

Shannon Matheny MS, ATC, LAT is a certified athletic trainer with her masters in Sports Medicine who started doing CrossFit three years ago. She started Redline Recovery LLC, a team of physical therapists and athletic trainers that travel to gyms for mobility and recovery appointments to help athletes compete without pain

Christy Ferrell, RN, BSN, CCRN, CF-L1 has been CrossFitting for over five years and obtained her CF-L1 in 2014. She have been a registered nurse for nearly 16 years and was an EMT-B before that. She was on the 2016 Atlantic CrossFit Regional Medical Team. 

Cassandra Niemela, MS, ATC, LAT, CES, CF-L1 is a certified athletic trainer and CrossFit coach with over 4 years of experience in each and a clinician for Redline Recovery treating CrossFit, strongman, Olympic and Powerlifting, and other athletes. Kim Ball, EMT has been working in hospitals since she was 18 years old and is also an avid CrossFitter.
